Washington State Court rules on Haviland

Carol Vaughn and Suzanne Howle received a favorable decision on March 14, 2013, from the Washington State Supreme Court in the case of In re Estate of Haviland (link to decision). The Supreme Court held that amendments to Washington’s Slayer and Abuser Statute can be applied in open probates where the victims of financial exploitation died prior to the effective date of the law, July 26, 2009. This is an important victory in the fight against elder abuse.
